How can one know if a DVD movie bought online is original or not?

In the Philippines, original CDs and DVDs are usually easily distinguished by:
1. a small sticker on the cover that glitters like a 3D sticker from the government regulatory board and/or from the manufacturers,
2. the CD or DVD itself has these letters (usually the title of the item), a bar code-like thing, and/or a combination of random letters and numbers that can be seen on the data side of the CD near the central hole. These things glitter with the rainbow colors the way the data side of the CD glitters. They are usually found on the edge of the data and are positioned in an arched way almost surrounding the hole.

Additionally:
3. the color of the CD covers are clean and vivid,
4. there is no case of wrong spellings and wrong grammar especially on the synopsis and on the actors’ names (or maybe it is so rare one can’t expect to see it every now and then).

And they are of course sealed when bought.

However, I got DVDs bought online (from Hong Kong) and they don’t have some of the characteristics above. They don’t have the sticker, the code on the CD itself and there are wrong spellings and the synopsis are sometimes not clear.

They are foreign (non-English, Indian actually) movies and I suppose it is just usual for these movies to be like that unless they are made in the Philippines. The DVDs are however sealed and smelled new. hehe. The colors are vibrant as well and there are a few letters and numbers on the data side near the central hole, too, but they don’t appear like the one I mentioned above. And these DVDs were sealed when they arrived.

The movie quality seems good anyway. The subtitles are fine though there are very few errors like a capital letter in the middle of a word or an unnecessary s in the end of some words. I have watched in full just one of them though, but have previewed the rest and they seem good as well.

Anyway, I am thinking that selling fake copies online is not really possible as sending them abroad becomes tricky. I know that fake copies are not tolerated by the customs and are not even allowed to be carried by an international traveler.

So how is it? Do the standards in the Philippines I mentioned above apply somewhere else? Are my DVDs original or not? Thanks

i bought a truck in ohio live in pa it has no inspection sticker how many days do i have to get it inspected?

I bought a truck on ebay. The title has a repossession attached & lien released. My DMV wont register? HELP!?

The truck was in Chicago and i flew in and drove it home to North Carolina. My DMV is telling me that the title can’t have both a lien that has been released and a repossession attached. I called BANKONE [which is now Chase Bank] to ask for a letter stating that the lien was released in error, but they refuse to help me. I have contacted the guy[dealer in Joliet, Illinois] and he says the title work is 125% correct and that my DMV person is an idiot. I have to get this truck titled and registered to be able to drive it in my state and i’m getting no help from either source. If anyone knows of what i can do to get this straightened out, so i can drive the truck legally and have it titled and registered in my name, please HELP ME!!!!

Used vehicle purchase, fraud bought what I believe to be one model – get one lower value model – can I return?

I just bought an used Mazda 2008 CX-9 (10K miles) from a MAZDA DEALER. The decal sticker with details of the car said that the car was a GRAND TOURING (IMPORTANT I STILL HAVE THIS STICKER) – the sticker has no price on it. I used my wife’s I-phone to check edmunds.com and the fair price for the car. I made an offer of 22,000 ( what I believe that was a good deal for a Grand Touring) – After pay almost $5,000 in cash and give a $20,000 check for be discounted in 3 days from now. I close the deal and drove the car home yesterday. Arriving home I discover that the car has almost none of the STANDARD equipments that one Grand Touring have it. I believe that the car is just a Touring and because of that I lost at least $2,000. Can I return the car tomorrow and get my money back? Can I cancel my $20,000 check? Should I suit the car dealer if they don’t accept the car back?
I forgot to say – the sticker decal that I’ve that says Grand Touring – also have the VIN Number. Sorry that I also forgot to say that I live in Houston TX – where appears that don’t have such 3 days law that protects the consumer :-(
I was in a Mazda Dealer – not a private party – not a small general brand dealer. They said that the car was a Grand Touring. They made a fraud. ALSO CARFAX report for all MAZDA CX-9 that I checked – don’t include BODY STYLE on it. So if it’s SPORT or Grand Touring or Just Touring – they all looks the same. So I did my carfax homework, but anyway what the car dealer did was not ethic at all

I just bought a new 2008 Toyota Matrix for $17500. Was this a good price??

It is the xr model and is an automatic transmission. It has FWD and has a 1.8L I4 engine. The MSRP sticker price at the dealership was $20,330. It has a moon roof, custom wheels, fog lights, power windows and the standard stuff that come with a Toyota (airbags, carpet floor mats, etc). Was this a good deal?!

I know i already bought it, but i was wondering if i got it for a good price…..

What is the present value of my car when I bought it new, is it the window sticker of $10890 or is it $16,000?

I paid $258.53 a month for 60 months so I assume that the Present value is $16,611which includes the financing and not
$10,800. is this correct so I will based the depreciation value on this figure ($16,611 and not $10,800. is this correct?

I am not wealthy and I bought a CAR and everyone in forums says it’s stupid..just culture difference?

Hi i’m 28 male. I’ve never bought anything big, and today i did. Well , i’m gonna make monthly payments.

Everybody in forums ..says it’s a stupid idea. That i should save for medical care,, that i should just get a used one. Well i didn’t and me and my relatives dont think it’s stupid. In fact, it’s something that makes everyone proud.

I guess it’s a thing about culture differences. We are hispanic from a poor poor family. My father never had nothing as a kid… living in the poor 3rd world country and when he came to america , he worked hard and when he finally had money he bought stuff. cars, trucks for his gardening work, even a house.

He and everyone encouraged me to get a Car. yeah it’s debt but so what? I’m willing to work for it.

Anyways, some Americans never had the life of immigrants and poor people so they dont understand us and the ones in that forum where i posted are 3D graphics people, and computer people..

Its just a different mentality..so am i wrong with a car

How do i get the title to the truck i bought from private seller? he now wants more money.?

i bought a truck for my daughter for a x mas present. I put 1,000 down and made payments to the owner. he promised to bring the truck to my work, never showed, after many calls, he texted me and said he was out of town untill AFTER x mas and would return my $$ when he got back. I felt scammed at this point, he moved from old residence , but his ex gorlfriend told us where he lived. I brought all copies of my payments to him, he was paid in full 4,500 totall. he wouldnt answer the door, we called the police, they said it was a civil matter, we called a tow truck service , showed all our paperwork and towed the truck off.. few days later the police call me saying that they shouldnt of let us take the truck, the owner claims we owe more money. I have sent certified mail asking for title from this guy, he sent me a certified letter saying if we dont return the truck within 72 hours he will have us arressted since he still holds the title. I dont know what to do, I have bill of sale showing what the truck sold for, and all cancelled checks he has cashed. In one statement he says we owe him 1,500 MORE,, but doesnt want money he wants the truck back and says take him to court to get our money back.. I dont want to give the truck back since i KNOW i will never see a penny from this guy, he has no $$ as we have learned from his ex girl friend. What can i do quickly so we dont get into trouble with anyone but can protect ourselves with this truck and force him to give us title? PLEASE HELP me this was my daughters present that has turned into a nightmare
