I am a high school senior that has been working two jobs for the past two years trying to save money to buy a car. With all that hard-earned cash, I do not want to just go and spend it on the first car I see…I want a reliable var that will get me to school,work, and college next year. I looked at a 1998 Volkswagen jetta a few days ago and I really liked it. My mother works with the owner and so trusts him. The car has 94k miles on it and is in great condition besides a few catches…It needs a new inspection sticker next month and i fear the tires won’t pass. In addition, one of the power windows do not work. Besides that, the mechanic that looked at it for me said it was in good condition. It was selling for $3000 but he accepted my offer of $2300 with one catch, I need to let him know by tonight……
I am not sure whether I should buy this car, or pass it up and go to a local dealership and look. There is a saturn for sale at the dealership for $3200 that I like but it has 157k miles on it and is much more expensive. I really like the jetta and feel it is in good condition, but it does not have the benefit of warranties or guaranteed satisfaction/free inspection like the dealership does. What should I do???

The front driverside tire fell off. Ball joints and tie rod ends were replaced. Would suing the dealer who refused to pay for repairs be fair? Suspension was checked as being legal on the window sticker….this is a used 1996 car.

I purchased a new truck in virginia which has a virginia inspection sticker and 30 day plates. When my nc plates come in the mail do I have to get a nc inspection when I put the tag on or is the virginia sticker good until it expires one year later?

I just bought an used Mazda 2008 CX-9 (10K miles) from a MAZDA DEALER. The decal sticker with details of the car said that the car was a GRAND TOURING (IMPORTANT I STILL HAVE THIS STICKER) – the sticker has no price on it. I used my wife’s I-phone to check edmunds.com and the fair price for the car. I made an offer of 22,000 ( what I believe that was a good deal for a Grand Touring) – After pay almost $5,000 in cash and give a $20,000 check for be discounted in 3 days from now. I close the deal and drove the car home yesterday. Arriving home I discover that the car has almost none of the STANDARD equipments that one Grand Touring have it. I believe that the car is just a Touring and because of that I lost at least $2,000. Can I return the car tomorrow and get my money back? Can I cancel my $20,000 check? Should I suit the car dealer if they don’t accept the car back?
I forgot to say – the sticker decal that I’ve that says Grand Touring – also have the VIN Number. Sorry that I also forgot to say that I live in Houston TX – where appears that don’t have such 3 days law that protects the consumer
I was in a Mazda Dealer – not a private party – not a small general brand dealer. They said that the car was a Grand Touring. They made a fraud. ALSO CARFAX report for all MAZDA CX-9 that I checked – don’t include BODY STYLE on it. So if it’s SPORT or Grand Touring or Just Touring – they all looks the same. So I did my carfax homework, but anyway what the car dealer did was not ethic at all

I bought a new guitar case and I would like to personalize it with stickers/decals of my favorite bands and artists. Whats a cheap and reliable site I can shop off of?

A friend bought a commodore that’s been modified, lowered, no door handles, but it still has external buttons to open the doors, custom bonnet, therefore no washers, and a few other issues, can you legally trace it back to the owner and the place that did the dodgy roadworthy and get it taken care of? Do you need to use a solicitor or can you do it yourself? Any similar stories and best ways to deal with this would be appreciated!!! Seems a bit unfair coz he spent a lot of money on it. Do you think it’s worth the trouble or does he sell it unregistered and unroadworthy?
